Mary Ellen Hall, 90, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015.
Mary Ellen was born on May 14, 1924, in Kingman, Kansas, daughter of Wallace and Emma (Seyb) McIlrath.
She graduated from Kingman High School, Emporia State, and later, Washburn University, where she obtained her Master's degree in Elementary School Education.
Mary Ellen was an Elementary School Librarian in several schools in USD #501.
Mary Ellen was a member of First United Methodist Church, Topeka, for over 50 years. She played in the Hand Bell Choir for 21 years. She served as a volunteer librarian at Topeka Collegiate School for 13 years.
She married Bertel Hall on May 21, 1950. He died in 1982.
Mary Ellen was also preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Hall. She died in 1973.
She is survived by her son, Allan Hall, Lawrence; former daughter-in-law, Susana Valdovinos, Topeka, and two "heart" grandchildren, Bondy and Becca Valdovinos Kaye.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Graveside committal services will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Lebanon Cemetery, rural Kingman County, KS.
Mary will lie in state from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the funeral home.
