Mary Ella Simon

Mary Ella Simon, 75, of Topeka, passed away at Midland Hospice, Wednesday, August 20, 2003, following a long illnesss.

She was born January 17, 1928, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph Rucker and Ruth Lewis Triplet. She attended Mary Washington University and the University of Missouri.

She was employed a number of years as a reporter/editor for the Bergen Record, Hackensack, NJ.

She married Herman Simon September 15, 1951 in Teaneck, NJ. He survives at the home. Other survivors include:
one sister, Linda Janowitz Montville, NJ
three sons, Peter Simon Dallas, TX
David Simon Kennett Square, PA
Kurt Simon Winfield, IL
and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Simon was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church. She was active in the League of Women Voters, and served one term as president of the Kansas Chapter.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2003 at St. David's Episcopal Church. Cremation will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the League of Women Voters of Kansas, 919 1/2 S. Kansas Avenue, Topeka 66612, or to Midland Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Cr., Topeka, 66606, or to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd., Topeka, 66617. Penwell-Gabael Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
