Mary E. Shields, 102, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, Jan 9, 2013 at Homestead Assisted Living.
She was born on Nov 7, 1910 in Fairview, Kansas to Robert R. and Angie M. Shields. She graduated from Fairview High School and for many years she worked at Adams Business Forms. She was an active member of Lowman United Methodist Church and later Highland Park United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Helen Hackett of Chico, CA and numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, by one sister, Orella (Turnquist) Shields, and by two brothers, Richard R. and Charles I. Shields.
Cremation has taken place and the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family. No services are being planned and a private inurnment will take place at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capper Foundation, 3500 SW 10th St., Topeka, KS 66604.
