Mary E. Bausch

Mary Elizabeth Bausch, 91, of Topeka passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011.

She was born in Axtell, KS on June 5, 1920, the daughter of Harold Crouch and Emma (Rothfelder) Crouch. She attended school in Axtell and graduated from Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg in 1942. She moved to Topeka in 1944 and was employed with Kansas Power & Light, the Supply Depot at Topeka Army Air Field and Southwestern Bell. She was married to John A. Bausch for 54 years.

Mary Bausch was a lifelong homemaker, a wonderful mother, and a very loving grandmother who always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, traveling, reading, sewing and embroidery projects. One of her biggest interests was sports. Mary attended KU football games for almost 40 years and enjoyed attending and watching Kansas City Royals baseball games. She also watched the Men's and Women's College World Series every year. Her sense of humor will certainly be missed.

Survivors include her three children; daughters Sarah Benson (Robert) of Denver, CO and Susan Morris (Larry) of Holton, KS and son Stephen Bausch of Denver. Mary had seven grandchildren: Jacob Benson, Denver, CO; Elisabeth Benson, San Diego, CA; Jordan Benson, Ft. Riley, KS; Emily Bausch, Austin, TX; Brad Morris, Lawrence, KS; Charles Benson, Denver, CO; and Phil Morris, Kansas City, KS.

Memorial services will be held at 3 PM, Friday, August 12, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th, Topeka, KS 66604. A Remembrance Celebration will follow the services at 6 PM at the Lake Shawnee Garden House, 3720 SE Yacht Ct. Private family inurnment of the cremated remains will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Axtell, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th Suite #100, Topeka, KS 66614.
