Mary Elizabeth Reeder Brown, 94, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on March 26, 2007.

She was born March 16, 1913 at Emporia, the daughter of Homer Isaac and Rosetta Emily Ullery Reeder. She moved with her family to Atchison in 1918 and to Topeka in 1926, where she became a member of Lowman United Methodist Church.

Mary graduated from Topeka High School in 1931, attended business school and worked at Capper Publications on the Household and Capper's Farmer Magazines from 1933 to 1940.

She married William Earl Brown on January 28, 1939. He died June 1, 1972.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Lee Comfort and husband, Tom, Topeka; two brothers, Louis Albert Reeder and wife, Edna, Boise, Idaho and William Robert Reeder and wife, Thelma, Navarre, Florida; a sister, Wilma Rose Hurst and husband, Robert, Eureka, Illinois; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Edith Elaine Reeder, and a brother, Homer Eugene Reeder.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
