Mary Alice Robinson, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Midland Hospice. She was born on January 20, 1929 in Lee's Summit, MO to Raymond Merle and Susie (Wood) Westerfield. She graduated from American School of Chicago and attended Washburn University for two years. In the early years Mary was a Vanda Beauty Counselor. She also worked at the Topeka Capital Journal. In August of 1987 she started a Christian Writers club in Topeka. Mary was the secretary at Community Church for five years before retiring in 1988. After retiring Mary became a feature writer and reporter for the Kansas Christian Newspaper. Mary was a devoted member of Community Church. When her sons were young, Mary was very active in Boy Scouts as a den mother. On June 5, 1949 she married Marvin H. "Pud" Robinson in Topeka. She is survived by two sons, Rex H. Robinson of Phoenix, AZ, Timothy W. Robinson of Bentonville, AR, one daughter, Julie K. Magee of Silver Lake and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006 and one daughter Kirsten Jill Robinson in 1954. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 31 at Community Church, 1819 S.W. 21st St., Topeka. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 30 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Community Church.
