Mary A. Nelson, 82, of Topeka, passed away, Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at Midland Hospice House, Topeka.
She was born April 18, 1921 at Lyons, Kansas, the daughter of Henry and Olga (Wahl) Jinks.
She graduated from Florence High School and a Hutchinson business college.
Mary married Howard H. Nelson September 5, 1942 in Eldorado, KS. He preceded her in death June 25, 1989.
She was employed at Cessna Aircraft Company during World War II. Following the war she was a homemaker. Mary was very involved in community activities including PTA, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Topeka.

two daughters, Sandee Franz Denver, CO
Connie Nelson Topeka, KS
one son, Doug Nelson Parsons, KS
one sister, Polly Smith Topeka, KS
3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Paul, Henry, Joe, Al, and Wilb Jinks, sisters: Esther Thurman, and Dorothy Adler.
Funeral services will be held 10:30am Monday, June 30, 2003 at Mt. Hope Chapel with interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery, the Rev. Joan Porter officiating. Mrs. Nelson will lie in state after 12:00 noon Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel . Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice House, 200 SW Frazier Cr., Topeka, KS 66606.
