Marvin K. Robinson, 79, Topeka, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2005 at a local hospital.
Marvin was born February 1, 1926, the son of Albert and Agnes McCorkle Robinson on a farm North of Valley Falls. He attended a one room school through the eighth grade and graduated from Nortonville High School in 1943.
After graduation he worked for the Sante Fe Railroad. He remained there until January of 1944 when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent 2 years in the South Pacific aboard the Salamua Aircraft Carrier. Upon returning to the United States, he was stationed at Seattle, WA. He was discharged in February of 1947. Upon returning to Topeka, he went back to work for Santa Fe and was promoted to several positions during his career. His last 20 years he was a supervisor at the Freight Car repair shop.
He married Phyllis Neal in June of 1948. She preceded him in death in 1985. He married Teresa Stallbaumer on August 9, 1986. She survives. Other survivors include sons: Mike Robinson and James Robinson, Topeka and a daughter, Cheryl Byler, Bellville, PA.; Five step-children and 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren, and one brother, JIm Robinson, Atchison.
He was a member of the East Topeka United Methodist Church,a life member of the American Legion, Capital Post 1, the Lake Shawnee Golf Association and Santa Fe Old Timers.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 7 ,2005 at 11:00 A.M. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Robinson will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday. Visitation will be from 6:00 tp 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday. .
