Marvin L. Strawn, 90, Topeka, passed away January 12, 2014 at Aldersgate Village.

Marvin was born June 1, 1923 in Valley Falls, the son of John W. and Louella (Grahem) Strawn.

Marvin was employed by the Graves Truck Line for over 35 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of Philip Billard VFW Post 1650.

Marvin married Geraldine M. "Jerry" McAlexander on June 8, 1942 in Topeka. She preceded him in death October 28, 2006. He was also preceded in death by six siblings, Ellis Strawn, Hazel Zinn, John Strawn, Rose Bonebrake, Raymond Strawn, Ruth Carson and Frank Strawn.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah K. Schultz and Cindy Strawn, both of Topeka; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mildred Hefty, Valley Falls and Juanita Boley, Salina.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, January 16 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Marvin will lie in state after 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home.
