Marvin Huitt Robinson

Marvin H. "Pud" Robinson, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at a Topeka hospital. He was born on May 17, 1921 in Eskridge, the son of Carl W. and Ethel Huitt Robinson. Marvin graduated from Topeka High School in 1939 and attended Strickler Business College. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a printer for Stauffer Communications for 45 years before retiring in May of 1991. Marvin was an active member of the Community Church, the Typographical Union Local No. 121 where he served as President, Vice President, chairman of the scale committee, apprentice committee, the laws committee and the arbitration committee. He also was involved in Boy Scouts of America where he served as a Scoutmaster and Cubmaster. He married Mary Alice Westerfield on June 5, 1949 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Rex H. Robinson of Phoenix, AZ, Timothy W. Robinson of Bentonville, AR, one daughter, Julie K. Magee of Silver Lake, ten grandchildren and one brother, Carl LaVon Robinson of Topeka. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kirsten Jill Robinson in 1954 and one sister, Lalah Clements. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Community Church, 1819 S.W. 21st St. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Robinson will lie in state after noon Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care or Community Church.
