Marvin E. Kessler

Marvin E. Kessler, 86, Topeka, passed away, Thursday, October 7, 2004 at his home. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family, and friends.
Mr. Kessler was born June 1, 1918 in Sac City, IA the son of Frank P. and Edna Simonson Kessler. He married Harriet A. Samways October 14, 1946 in Duluth, MN, she survives. Other survivors include: sons Scott Kessler and wife, Elizabeth Dion, of Fernandina Beach, FL and Bruce Kessler and wife, Lisa Langelier, of Colville, WA; a daughter, Janice Cobb and husband, Martin, of Centennial, CO; and three granddaughters, Jessica Cobb, Kelsey Cobb and Linnea Kessler.
Marvin graduated from Sac City High School in 1936 and from Iowa State University in 1940 with an Electrical Engineering degree. He was a service engineer for IBM for 42 years, a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church for 55 years and active with the Northeast Kansas Amateur Astronomers' League. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, electronics, astronomy and scouting. He was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Kessler, and a sister, Marjorie Phillips.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Kessler will lie in state from 4:00 PM, Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Monday.
