Marvin Curtis Clark

May 23, 1930 — January 28, 2015

Marvin Curtis Clark, 84, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Midland Hospice House.

He was born May 23, 1930 at Wakarusa, KS the son of Russel and Esther Shafer Clark. Mr. Clark was raised on the family farm south of Topeka where as a young boy he enjoyed planting an annual wheat crop; his latest crop will be harvested this summer. After graduating from Washburn Rural High School in 1948, he continued farming until moving to Topeka in 1960. At that time he became a very successful salesman for the New England Life Insurance Company and then later Westheffer Farm Equipment of Lawrence. However, farming remained his passion and he and his wife Joan also operated a summertime custom harvesting business from 1961 to 1972. From 1972 to the present, he and his son Rocky operated Clark Sales and Service Inc. of Wakarusa.

Marvin married Joan Thurber on April 10, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka; she preceded him in death on February 20, 2001.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church as well as a charter member of the Clinton Lake Historical Society.

Marvin married Patricia Doole on December 22, 2002 at First Southern Baptist Church in Topeka.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Clark; daughter, Sherry Clark; son, Rocky Clark; granddaughters, Heather Anstaett and Jorgie Hughes-Findley; great-granddaughter, Maya Hughes-Findley; step-grandchildren, Lindsey, Justin, and Derek Campbell; step-great grandsons, Andrew and Ethan Martinez; step-children, Pricilla McCabe, Dave Stevens, Melody Heifner, Ron Doole, Jr. , Ronda Brenneman, Harmony Hines, Robert Doole, John Doole, and Donna Doel; twenty six step-grandchildren and ten step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Lou Clark.

The family will receive friends at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka from 4:00-6:00p.m. on Sunday, February 1.

A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle Topeka, KS 66606.
