Marvin "Lee" Axelton, 78, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Lee was born on January 9, 1929 in Randolph, KS; the son of Elmer P. and Lucile E. (Carlson) Axelton. He was raised in Olsburg community where he graduated from Olsburg High School.
Kathryn Louise Peterson was united in marriage to Lee in Olsburg, KS on December 31, 1950. She survives of the home.
During the Korean War, Lee served in the U.S. Army as a Medic. He later worked for Manhattan Auto Supply, Helzberg Diamonds, Dupont, Shawnee Builders, Lee's Kitchen Cabinets and retired from Cotton O'Neil in January of this year. Lee was member of the Masonic Lodge #90, Arab Temple Shrine, Moose Lodge #555 and the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, wood working, and cooking.
Other survivors include his son, Ron L. Axelton and fiancé, Shelley Herold, daughters, Sharon K. Moore and husband, Rick, Karen S. Arney and husband, Tom, all of Topeka Sherryl A. Coufal and husband, David of Hiawatha, 4 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, five great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Martha L. Erickson and Lois I. Axelton, both of Topeka.
Funeral services for Mr. Axelton will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery. He will lie in state after 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in Lee's name may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, 731 S.W. Buchanan, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
