Martha I. Wheatley, 82, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, Oct. 29 2006.
She was born Oct. 15, 1924 in Winfield, Kan., the daughter of William G. and Lura L. Finch Swartz.
She married Aaron T. Wheatley on January 19, 1947 in Winfield. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Milly Wheatley Hinchsliff in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Aaron T. Wheatley, Jr and his wife Susan, Topeka; grandchildren, Bill Wheatley and his wife Tara, Topeka, Melissa Wheatley, Joplin, MO, Marci Farrer and her husband Jason, Olathe, Robbie and Andy Hinchsliff, Olathe and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Wheatley will lie in state after 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Nov. 1 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, Nov. 2 at the funeral home with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 pm in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, Kansas 66601-1653.
