Martha M. Walter, 93, Topeka, passed away June 6, 2012, at McCrite Plaza.
She was born August 19, 1918, in Bridgewater, SD, the daughter of Jacob S. and Susanna Hofer Tschetter.
Martha was a 1942 graduate of Freeman Academy and had attended Faith Bible School.
On March 3, 1944, in Sioux Falls, SD, she married Dr. Solomon F. Walter. Together they pastored churches in Dolton, SD, Trenton, IA, Clearmont, Smithville, St. Joseph, Kansas City, and Springfield, MO, and made a difference for God everywhere they went. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1992.
Survivors include daughter, Andrea Joy (Steve) Rose; siblings, Anne (Marvin) Engbrecht; sister in law, Mabel Walters; grandchildren, Grace, Hope (Steven) Bency, Faith, Victory; and one great-grandchild expected in September. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ed, Dave, and E.J. Tschetter; sisters, Katherine Dunn and Elsie Tschetter; sisters in law, Hulda Tschetter, Irene Tschetter, Leoda Tschetter, Olive Rosentrater; and brother in law, Clifford Walters.
Funeral services in Topeka will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th, Topeka, KS 66604, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Funeral services in Bridgewater, SD, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Zion Mennonite Church, 950 North Main Avenue, Bridgewater, SD 57319 where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Bridgewater Cemetery, in Bridgewater, SD. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army and Midland Care Hospice Services in Topeka.
