Martha Gould
Martha A. Gould, 95, Topeka, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. She was born on November 23, 1914 in Valley Stream, New York to Ernest and Jeanne (DeLatre) Tempel.
Martha was a graduate of the University of Minnesota. On December 30, 1966 she married Dr. Franklin L. Gould, he preceded her in death in 1977. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Martha was a nurse for the Veteran's Administration in Cheyenne, WY and San Diego, CA. She was a missionary nurse for the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, Africa and a veteran of WWII serving as 1st LT. Nurse.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Cheryl Smith of Grand Rapids, MI; Frank Gould of New Britain, CT; Ellen Fawcett of Kansas City, MO; and John Gould of Topeka. She was preceded in death by a brother Ernest Tempel of Southold, NY and a sister Charlotte McLaughlin of Beatrice, NE.
A memorial ceremony will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Mound Prairie Cemetery in Goehner, NE. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 817 SW Harrison, Topeka, KS 66612 or Topeka Rescue Mission, 600 N Kansas Ave, Topeka, KS 66608 or Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund, 4712 SW 6th Ave, Topeka, KS 66606. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
