Martha Thaxton Burman, 74, of Topeka, passed away, Friday September 9, 2005 at her home.
Martha was born April 20, 1931 in Cadiz, Kentucky the daughter of Rayburn and Elizabeth Russell. She was a 1949 graduate of Great Bend High School. She had attended Kansas State University. While at KSU, she majored in music and was a member of Alpha Zi Sorority.
Martha married Don G. Burman July 29, 1951 in Downey, California.
She had worked in the medical field as a Licensed Practical Nurse and Medical Transcriptionist.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Don M. Burman, Lawrence, KS; two daughters, Susan Lattin, Lawrence, KS; Sara Newby, Tuxedo, NY; one sister, Betty Voie, Dearborn, MI; seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Burman will lie in state after 12:00 noon Monday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday.
