Marlin A. Young, 83, of Topeka, passed away October 11, 2008, at Midland Hospice House.
He was born March 19, 1925, in Topeka, the son of Clark and Nellie M. (McCoy) Young.
Marlin is a graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1942-1945.
Mr. Young married Mary H. Smith, they later divorced.
He worked for the Topeka Fire Dept. for 12 years. He later moved to Lake Tahoe, NV and married, Harriet Smith. While living in Nevada, Marlin worked for and retired as a Security Supervisor for Harvey's Casino's.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Partain; two sons, Randy Lynn and Buddy Lynn, all of Topeka; three step-sons, Rich deBraga of Mound House, NV; Doug Plocher of Elko, NV and Gene Plocher of Alturas, CA; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet; one son, Greg Lynn and a brother, Max Young.
Cremation has taken place. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is handling arrangements.
