Marlene Faye Hendrick of Topeka Kansas died July 14, 2023 at age 86 years due to complications of heart valve disease.
Marlene was born in Beatrice, Nebraska to David Kuper and Faye (Gaisford) Kuper.
Marlene was well educated, receiving an undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and a master's degree from Kansas State Teacher's College of Emporia. She enjoyed a long career in leadership at the Topeka and Shawnee County Library.
She was a social and charitable person with a sharp mind and quick wit. She enjoyed many friends in Topeka, held a lifelong passion for playing bridge, frequented the Topeka Civic Theatre and had love for all animals. She gave generously to charity, even if she had little for herself.
Marlene was preceded in death by her son David. She is survived by her son James and his family.

A funeral service will be held at Lowman United Methodist Church on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 10 am at 4101 SW 15th St. Topeka KS 66604.
Marlene will be buried with her family at Prairie Home Cemetery in Diller, Nebraska.
