Marlaine Self

Marlaine Self, 63, of Topeka, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at her home.

Marlaine was born on November 26, 1949 in Topeka, KS to Harold R. and Elsie (Schilling) Hutcheson. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1967.

She was married to Gerald W. Self on January 31, 1970 in Topeka. She spent much time raising her three children and in her later years worked as a paraprofessional for USD 501. She was a member of Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene in Topeka.

Marlaine is survived by her husband, Jerry Self of Topeka, three sons, William Self of Independence, MO, Robert (Pamela) Self of Leavenworth, and Kevin (Jessica) Self of Topeka, seven grandchildren, Kimberly, William, Alyssa, Tyler, and Hailey, two great-grandchildren, and one brother, Clark Hutcheson of Davies, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother, Dennis Hutcheson.

Marlaine will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday, October 3 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00p.m. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00am, Friday, October 4 at the Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka. Entombment will follow in the Mount Hope Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Road Topeka, KS 66604
