Marla Lynn Rimel, 73, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022.
She was born November 25, 1948, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Sneden) Parker.
She was a proud Topeka High School graduate and went on to graduate with her Bachelors in Physical Education from Washburn University.
Marla was very athletic during her younger years. She participated in the Squid Club during high school and had a love for the water. She was anything and everything at the pool. From lifeguard to teaching swimming lessons to even the pool manager. Marla also liked bowling and bartending.
Marla loved her family tremendously. She loved her two children fiercely. She cherished family gatherings and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She would often volunteer at Mater Dei School in the cafeteria and anywhere else she was needed.
If she wasn't spending time with family, you could catch her watching her ION Television, Hawaii Five-O or eating seafood.
Marla was straightforward. She would be the first person to tell you what was on her mind and was always fun to be around. She was a strong woman. She prevailed through many hardships in her life and kept living each day to its fullest.
She was proud to work for Joy & Company. She worked there for majority of her life and up until her retirement. Even during retirement, she would come in and help on occasion. Most of what she did was self-taught.
