Marla Rae German, 57, of Topeka passed away of a heart attack while at work on Tuesday Jan. 6, 2003. She was born on Sept. 21, 1946 in Topeka to Marvin and Martha Smith Reiman.
Marla was a 1964 graduate of Topeka High School, after which she attended Clark's School of Business. For 28 years Marla was employed with Security Benefit Life and was a lead operator in word processing department. She attended Bryan Travel College
and was employed as the assistant manager of Greyhound Bus Station at the time of her death.
Ms. German was a very active member of the VFW Post 1650, Ladies Auxiliary where she had been the President twice and currently the Secretary. She was also the current Cancer Chairman and past District President for the Auxiliary. Marla was also a member of ABWA, she was President in 1994.
In 1968, she married Larry M. German, they divorced, he passed away in 1994.
Survivors include her daughter Donna "Janie" German of Topeka, her son and his wife Michael and Jena German of Aberdeen, S.D., her father Marvin E. Reiman of Topeka, her brother and his wife Jerry and Jeanie Reiman of Topeka.
Marla will lie in state on Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 from 2-9 pm, the family will receive friends from 6-8pm, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004 at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
