Mark Shamburg was born on December 18, 1960, to Lloyd and Charlene (Kunze) Shamburg in Lyons, Kansas.
Mark worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Conroy Contractors, a job he approached with skill and dedication.
On December 12th 1985, he married Delcinea “Dee” (Hutchens) Shamburg, and together they made their home in Topeka, Kansas. In his early years, Mark had a passion for training professional racehorses, a pursuit that reflected his love for the sport and the thrill of the track. Mark was a devoted family man who always put his loved ones first. When he wasn’t at work, he could often be found caring for his granddaughter’s Christmas fish-we joked he liked them more than she did-or spending time with his children, wife, and granddaughter. Mark took great pride in his family and worked tirelessly to provide for them.
If you asked Mark what he wanted most in life, he’d have said three things: to see his family healthy and happy, spend time around the horse track, and see Notre Dame win a national championship. He made sure the first came true every single day. As for the third, he would gladly settle for Michigan never winning another game.
He was preceded in death by his father; Lloyd E. Shamburg, his mother; Charlene V. Shamburg, and his brother; John Shamburg.
Mark is survived by his loving wife; Dee, his children; John (Ashmita) Shamburg, Taylor K. Shamburg, and Michael D. Shamburg, his beloved granddaughter; Avery Lesperance, his sisters-in-law; Tammy Hutchens and Edna (Jerry) Kruger, his sister; Pam (Paul) Shamburg-Donohue, his brother; Michael Shamburg, eight nieces and two nephews, his spoiled cat, Princess; and a tank full of his treasured fish.
