Mark Gilchrist Lyne, 90, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 14, 2011 in Topeka. Mark was born February 9, 1921, in a farm house in Jewell County, Kansas. He was the son of Phillip Lyne and Bertha Gilchrist Lyne. His first job after leaving the farm was to work for Western Electric Company, a division of AT & T. He retired after 38 years of service. Mark and Ruth moved with their children to Topeka in 1955. Mark married Ruth Elizabeth Lyne on August 7, 1943. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2007. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Arthur, and a sister, Eva. He was a member of Countryside Methodist Church, life member of Albert Pike Masonic Lodge in Wichita, Kansas, Order of Quetzalcoatl Shrine, Topless Unit in Topeka, and Moose Lodge, Topeka.
Mark is survived by his sister Phyllis Guiliano of La Habra, California, two sons, Greg of Brentwood, California, and Randy and his wife, Ginger, of Fort Worth, Texas, seven Grandchildren, three Great Grandchildren, and a large number of family and friends.
Visitation will be at Penwell Gabel Mid Town Chapel on Monday, March 28th, where family and friends will meet from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial services will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, March 29th at Countryside Methodist Church. Private inurnment will follow the service for the family at Penwell Gabel Cemetery.
