Age 52, passed away December 30, 2002 at his home. He was born August 9, 1950 in Montgomery, AL the son of Claude A. and Virginia L. Mote Poland, Jr. Mr. Poland attended Topeka Schools graduating from Topeka High School in 1968. He attended Washburn University and University of Kansas. He traveled extensively in Europe and South America and was a Project Estimator for the Kansas Department of Transportation for many years. He was an artist. He is survived by his companion, Melody Starkey of Topeka, and by his mother, Virginia L. Poland, Topeka, his sister, Anne Poland Page, Topeka,and two nieces and two grandnieces. Cremation is planned. Private inurnment services will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 Rochester Road, Topeka,. KS 66617.
