Marjorie Sue Yates, 70, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Midland Hospice House. She was born on July 24, 1939 in Winchester, Kansas the daughter of Harold K. and Florence M. Curry. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1957 and Sterling College in 1961. She taught school for nine years before switching to a career in data processing for Washburn University where she retired in 2001. She has been a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church since her youth and has been active in her church. Her life was reflective of her faith in Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Duzel Yates; three sisters, Alice Johnson of Dallas, TX; Esther Parnell of Topeka; and Rose Nystrom of Titusville, PA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Dale and Clair Curry.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 28 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29 at the Topeka Reformed Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery in Winchester, KS.
