Marjorie Rose Luhta Chop Whitis, age 82, died March 15, 2022 in Topeka, Kansas. She was born April 4, 1939 in Painesville, Ohio to Fabian and Elsie (née Richards) Luhta.
She graduated from Riverside Highschool in 1957. She married John J Chop on January 13, 1958 in Flat Rock, Michigan. They divorced in 1971. She moved to Zephyrhills, Florida where she met her second husband, Earl W Whitis. They married on July 17, 1978 in Donalsonville, Georgia. Earl died on March 1, 1986.
Majorie is survived by her four children, Marjorie Jo Keeling, Regina (Stephen) Quinn, Johnny Chop, and Sarah (Steve) Reed. She had eight grandchildren Adrian (Heather) Pavoordt III, Cody (Vivian) Keeling, Michelle (Tobias) Herrmann, Patricia (Jesse) Skala, Joseph Chop, Anthony Chop, Samantha Reed, and Stephen Reed. She also had nine great-grandchildren Andrew, Caleb (Reagan), Jacob, Jayman, Brielle, Noelle, Belle, Sophie, and Elyjah; and one great-great-grandchild Marley Jo. She is also survived by her sisters Edna (David) Medvec, Patricia Cooley, and her brother Charles (Alice) Luhta, along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents Fabian and Elsie.
Marjorie loved to read, go to the casino, travel, and enjoy the outdoors. In her later years, you could find her outside enjoying the sun and watching the wildlife that surrounded the house. She was proud of and loved all her children and grandchildren.
She wanted to be cremated and have her ashes scattered over the graves of her mother and grandmother.
