Marjorie Samsel, 84, Topeka, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
She was born July 24, 1929, in Frankfort, Kansas, the daughter of Clifford and Hannah (Thomas) Raub.
Marjorie was employed by the Duffens Optical for over 20 years, retiring in 1994.
Marjorie married Edgar Arthur Samsel on January 29, 1949 in Marysville, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1984.
Survivors include two children, Linda (Frederick) Folkerts, Concord, NC; Douglas Samsel, Topeka; twin sister, Margaret Sunnenberg, St. George, KS; four brothers, Bill Raub, Nebraska City, NE; Don (Ruth) Raub, Arkansas City, KS; Larry (Betty) Raub, Home City, KS; Richard Raub, Centralia, KS; five grandchildren, Gary Ostrom, Topeka; Brenda Ostrom, Glendale, AZ; Jennifer (Adrian) Hernandez, Topeka; Ashley Samsel, Manhattan, KS; and Sarah Brosowsky, Masaena, NY; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and her companion of 22 years Bud Brosa, Topeka.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Clifford Raub Jr., Marion Raub, Jimmy Raub, and Jane Raub.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. Cremation will follow the ceremony. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka at a later date.
