Marjorie "Marge" Rawson passed away on October 22, 2018 at Aldersgate Village.
She was born on January 5, 1921 at Maple Hill, KS, the daughter of David Charles and Della Merritt Allen. She moved to Manhattan in 1926 and lived there until her marriage.
Marge graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1938. She attended Kansas State College, now known as Kansas State University, and later graduated from the former Sacred Hearth Business Academy in Manhattan. She married Wilbur A. Rawson on June 28, 1941 at First Lutheran Church in Manhattan.
They lived in Concordia, KS until 1965 when they moved to Topeka. For a number of years Mage was employed at Republican State Headquarters in Topeka. In 1969 she began working for the Kansas Legislature and was instrumental in establishing the Division of Legislative Administrative Services where she was in charge of personnel until she retired in 1987. She moved to Aldersgate Retirement Village in 1997. Marge was an active member of the Village Council during her more than 20 years of residency.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Topeka.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur A. Rawson, who died on February 6, 1998. Surviving are her three sons; Thomas M. Rawson and his wife Dianne, Wamego, S. Kent Rawson and his wife Ann, Toronto, Ontario, Douglas A. Rawson and his wife Connie, Yachats, Oregon; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, October 25, 2018 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018 at First Lutheran Church, 1234 SW Fairlawn Road. Entombment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery Mausoleum, 17th & Fairlawn.
