Marjorie "Adine" Martin, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Midland Hospice House.
Adine was born September 6, 1936, in Topeka, KS. She graduated in 1954 as Valedictorian from Washburn Rural High School and attended Miltonvale Wesleyan College. Adine married Reverend Darrel Martin on June 16, 1955, at First Wesleyan Church in Topeka, KS. They were both lifelong members of the Wesleyan Church. Together they served in ministry for over 40 years. Adine worked for nearly 30 years as an escrow agent at Topeka Escrow Service. She was engaged to William "Bill" Smith, her loving companion and caregiver. Together they shared many adventures. Adine loved to travel, play the family game of marbles, and most of all loved to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; father, Emerson Pomeroy; mother, Marjorie Anno-Martin; step-father, Clarence Anno; and half-sister, Marilyn Pomeroy.
Adine is survived by her fiancé; four children, Mike (Sandy) Martin of Bartlesville, OK, Sherri (Greg) Marcus, John (Merilee) Martin, and Marilee (Jim) Lowrey; eleven grandchildren, Jenni (John Brewer) Martin and Jessi (Dallas) Smith, Shane (Clara) Marcus, Jaron, Soren, and Caleb (fiancée, Rachel Darey) Marcus, Benjamin and Jadyn Martin, and Wesley, Madison, and Wyatt Lowrey; five great-grandchildren; beloved step-mother, Elsa Pomeroy; half-sister, Diane Pomeroy; three half-brothers, Stan, David, and Victor Pomeroy; and Bill Smith's cherished children and grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
