Marjorie C. Huhs, 90, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, December 27, 2009 at McCrite Plaza.
Marjorie was born January 18, 1919 on a farm near Broughton, Kansas, in Clay County the daughter of Harry and Villa (Mall) Pierson. She graduated from the Clay County Community High School and attended Kansas State University.
She was employed in Washington D.C. during W.W. II. She retired from the State of Kansas Property Valuation Department in Topeka in 1981.
Marjorie married Ivan F. Huhs March 26, 1965. He preceded her in death December 12, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her step son Ron Huhs and step daughter, Judy Griggs. Marjorie took an active part in many activities beginning with 4-H club at an early age. She was a former Beta Sigma Phi, Sweet Adeline and more recently a member of Active Prime Timers. She belonged to Crestview United Methodist Church. Marjorie enjoyed working in her yard and traveling.
She is survived by her step children Dianne Musso, Eileen Boyd;two nieces, Arlene Cox and Marlene Bachman; and six great nephews.
She will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A private ceremony and burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be given to Crestview United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
