Marjorie H. Rimes

Marjorie H. Rimes, 86, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born on August 11, 1920 in Topeka, the daughter of Raymond E. and Edith S. Johnson Leech. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1937 and Baker University in 1943. Marjorie worked in the AT&SF offices from 1940-1941 and then served as Director of Youth and Religious Education of First United Methodist Church under Dr. Ormal L. Miller from 1943-1945. She then attended Jarrett Biblical Institute, Evanston, Illinois. She was the Business Administrator for the Kansas East Conference Council on Ministries for 15 years before retiring in 1982. She was a members of First United Methodist Church where she served as a Diaconal Minister. She and her husband were founding member of the "Supper Club" at First United Methodist Church. Marjorie married Norman G. Rimes on November 24, 1945 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on May 29, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Jeanne R. Rimes in September of 1998. Survivors include one daughter, Linda M. Finger and husband, Richard of Lawrence and two grandchildren, Kelsey and Kristofer. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 in Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care, 120 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
