Marjorie J. Gildersleeve, 85, Topeka, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008 at her home. She was born on June 5, 1923, in Topeka, the daughter of Ross F. and Susanne Riker Clinton. She was a life-time Topeka resident. Marjorie graduated from Topeka High School in 1941 and received a BA in Education from Washburn University in 1945. She was a homemaker and was employed as a Kindergarten Teacher at Highland Park and State Street Elementary Schools. She was a member of First Christian Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher for 56 years. Marjorie married Joseph Gildersleeve on May 29, 1948 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Ross Gildersleeve of Great Bend, two daughters, Susan McCartney and Sara Conley, both of Berryton, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one brother, Herman Clinton. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church. Private inurnment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
