Marjorie J. Baxter, 93, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at a Topeka care facility. She was born November 2, 1923 in Nortonville, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth and Vera (Moxley) Hurley.
Marjorie graduated from Nortonville High School and had resided in Topeka since 1942. She was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for 23 years before retiring on August 15, 1985. She was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church.
Marjorie married Eugene D. Baxter on September 14, 1942 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Hurley.
Survivors include her children, Colleen A. Baxter of Safety Harbor, Florida, Joan A. Alders of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Randall A. Baxter of Wakarusa, Kansas, Terry E. Baxter of Flagstaff, Arizona, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Burial will follow.
