Marjorie Bales Selander, 98, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015.
She was born April 10, 1917, in Axtell, Kansas, the daughter of Jacob and Amalia "Mollie" (Schaefer) Rothfelder.
Marjorie received her teaching degree from Kansas State University and was a home economics teacher for Dover and Seaman School Districts for 17 years, retiring in 1963.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women's Association, Topeka Home Economics Association, and Indian Hills Extension Group.
Marjorie married Estle Oren Bales on September 29, 1945, in Washington, D.C. and preceded her in death on March 5, 1989. She then married Menalkas Selander on January 17, 1999, in Topeka and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2003.
Survivors include nephews, Paul F. (Pat) Rothfelder and James (Ruby) Rothfelder; and niece, Glenda Chastain.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015, in the Jellison Chapel at Topeka Presbyterian Manor, 4712 SW 6th Street, Topeka. Private burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Topeka Presbyterian Manor or Heartland Hospice.
