Marjean Taylor

Marjean (Simons) Taylor, 75, of Wichita, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at a Wichita hospital. She was born on September 14, 1930 in Topeka, the daughter of Charles E. and Fay E. Johnston Simons. She was raised in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School in 1948. She was employed by Cappers Weekly from 1970 before retiring in 1990. She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church. Marjean married Clifford E. Taylor in November of 1949. He preceded her in death in 1977. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Simons on May 29, 2005. Survivors include one daughter, Connie S. Hamilton of Wichita, one grandson, Brady Smith of Wichita, three great-grandchildren, one brother, James E. Simons of Quinter, one sister, Charlotte A. Deiter of Maple Hill and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Burial will follow. Marjean will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Memorial contributions may be given to the Leukemia, Lymphoma Society, 555 N. Woodlawn St., Suite 113, Wichita, KS 67208. A special message may be given to the family at www.PenwellGabel.com.
