Marion Yvonne Johnson, affectionately known as "Mary," was born on June 28, 1957, in Junction City, Kansas, and went on to be with the Lord on March 15, 2024. She was raised by her adoptive parents, Jack and Leola Johnson, and her mother Lena Fielder, all of whom preceded her in death.
Mary graduated from Junction City High School, attended Coffeyville Community College, and graduated from Brown Mackie Design School in Salina, Kansas.
Mary's passion for helping others began early in life. She was a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), caring for the elderly in Junction City and Manhattan, where she worked at an adult care facility. She also worked as an Emergency Technician at Irwin Army Hospital in Fort Riley.
Mary accepted Christ at an early age and had a close relationship with the Lord throughout her life. She attended True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Topeka where she was a member of the choir, Mission Department, and Sunday School, and she also served as a Vacation Bible School assistant. Just before her passing, she gave a powerful testimony of forgiveness, deliverance, and gratitude, a true testament of her faith. She also sang "Thank You Lord for All You've Done for Me," expressing her deep and heartfelt gratitude to the Lord.
Mary was a kind and loving soul who touched the lives of many with her generosity, kindness, and contagious smile. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of faith, compassion and love of people will live on forever.
Mary is survived by her sisters Barbara, Shirley, and Carolyn; her brothers Jackie (Glinda) and Larry; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, extended family, and friends.
Services will be held at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Topeka on Saturday, March 23. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and the service will commence at 10:00 AM. Mary will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
