Marion J. Barr

Marion J. Barr, 69, passed away Monday, April 17, 2006 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.

She was born January 10, 1937 in Topeka, the daughter of Robert A. and Dorothy L. Barr, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1955. She attended Kansas State University and graduated from Clarks School of Business.

Marion began her career as a legal secretary in 1957 at McCullough, Wareheim and La Bunker Law Firm and retired after 44 years of service.

Marion was an avid K-State fan and spent most of her spare time gardening. Marion was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.

She was survived by her sister, Janet E. Morris, niece, Jackie Shinn and her husband Charlie, great niece, Malary Shinn, and great nephew, Blake Shinn, all of Topeka.

Funeral services for Marion will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 S.E. Michigan, Topeka, Kansas 66605.
