Marilyn McDougald, 84, of Topeka, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Marilyn was born October 13, 1933, the daughter of Walter and Anne (Zeckser) Hansen of Topeka. She attended Topeka High and St. John's Lutheran School prior to attending Washburn University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.
Marilyn married John McDougald on August 11, 1962 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Topeka.
She taught mostly Kindergarten and First Grade for 43 years, retiring in 1997. She began her teaching career at a Lutheran School in Houston, TX. After marrying her husband John, she taught in Ashville, AL and numerous other locations. The last 23 years of her career she spent teaching in Madison and Burlingame, KS.
Marilyn was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a husband, John McDougald; son, Mike McDougald; daughter, Michelle (Greg) Burgess; son, Mark (Felisha) McDougald; grandchildren, Kendyl, Kayla and Karly McDougald, Haley Strube, Ethan and Coley Burgess, Lauren, MollieAnne and Mason McDougald; brother, Eldon "Bud" Hansen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, JoAnn Dietiker, sister, Nadine Gordon and a granddaughter, Emilee Anne Burgess.
Family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd. Topeka, KS 66604. A Funeral Ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
