Marilyn Elaine Leonard, 85, of Topeka, formerly of Junction City, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born March 8, 1923 in Marion, Kansas, the daughter of Gerald Arthur and Grace Virginia (Kuhn) Stevens. She graduated from Junction CityHigh School.
Marilyn was employed by Kansas Power and Light for 25 years in Manhattan and Junction City, retiring in 1980. She was a life-member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Junction City and a member of the St. David's Episcopal Church in Topeka.
She married Gordon E. Pechin on March 12, 1941 in Salina, KS. He preceded her in death in 1978. She married Robert Leonard on May 5, 1980 in Junction City. He preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Roberta Davis. Survivors include a son, Greg Pechin and his wife, Sharon, of Topeka; a daughter, Sandra Baze of Portland, OR; a sister, Patsy Gfeller of Junction City; step-daughters, Carol Connizzo and Sue Danker, both of Manhattan; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2008 at the HighlandCemetery, in Junction City, Kansas. Mrs. Leonard will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel, Mid-Town Chapel in Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. David's Episcopal Church, 3916 SW 17th, Topeka, KS 66604 or to Midland Hospice Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66604.
