Marilyn Louise Stewart, 91, of Topeka, KS, passed away on October 11, 2013. She was born in Augusta, KS on March 21, 1922. She was the daughter of Virgil and Helen (Kincaid) Sheffer.
Marilyn grew up in Wichita, KS where she graduated from Wichita East High School, and Wichita State University. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority at WSU. While at WSU she met her future husband, Richard L. Stewart. They were married on January 23, 1945 (1-23-45). During World War II she worked for Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita. After the war she became a homemaker raising her two children, Christine L. Power of Salt Lake City, UT, and Scott R. Stewart of Denver, CO. Marilyn and Richard moved to Topeka in 1956. She was a Life Master at duplicate bridge, and won several national tournaments.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard, her brother Richard K. Sheffer of Benton, KY, and granddaughter Shannon Power. She is survived by her daughter Christine and her son Scott. She is also survived by her cousin Darrell Kincaid and his wife Jo Ann Kincaid formerly of Ellinwood, KS and Topeka, and now Chicago, IL. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Matthew Stewart, Baird Kleinsmith, Wade Kleinsmith, Michael Power and Eric Power, and nine great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and services will be held at Old Mission/Wichita Park Cemetery in the mausoleum in Wichita, KS on Thursday October 24, 2013 at 10:30 am.
