Marilyn L. Lindsay of Maple Hill, KS, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010. She was born May 16, 1934, the daughter of John M. Leeper, Jr. and Berenice (Lowe) Leeper in Topeka, Kansas. Marilyn grew up in Osage County and graduated from Lyndon High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Washburn University and obtained her Masters Degree in Social Work from The University of Kansas. She was employed by the Topeka State Hospital for 41 years as a Social Worker.
Marilyn married Homer L. Lindsay of Lyndon, Kansas on August 27, 1955. He died July 5, 1998.
Surviving family include a brother, John M. Leeper, III (M. Jacinto), Brooklyn, NY; sisters-in-law, Jackie Lindsay, Osage City, KS, Mabel Lindsay, Topeka, KS, Ruth Kuhnhausen, Vancouver, WA and Elaine Christenson, Carbondale, KS; cousins, Tom Coffman (Lois), Hawaii and James Coffman (Sharon), Manhattan, KS; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Marilyn had struggled with renal cell cancer for the past several years.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW Tenth Avenue, Topeka KS 66604. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Cat Association and Wabunsee County Health Department in care of Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
