Marilyn Jane (Libby) Johnson, 99, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024.
She was born September 15, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Roy and Frances (Guy) Libby. She graduated Paseo High School in 1941 and attended business college in Kansas City.
On November 22, 1947 she married Charlie R. Johnson in Kansas City, Missouri. They were blessed with three children, Beverly, Stephen, and Suzanne.
Marilyn briefly worked for Rock Island Railroad in Kansas City, but spent the majority of her life as a mother and homemaker.
She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Independence, Missouri and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her children, Beverly (Charles) Rogers; Stephen (Sylvia) Johnson; and Suzanne (Jeff) Jennings; seven grandchildren, Lauren (Jamie) Rucker, Matthew (Jincy) Jennings, David (Shelley) Johnson, Erin (Mike) Hackney, Scott (Katie) Rogers, Brad (Kyleigh) Rogers, and Robert Rogers; ten great-grandchildren, Emma, Brayden, Coraline, Jolie, Remmie, Alice, John, Zoey, Lucy, and Beau.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charlie on September 24, 2016 and her parents.
Marilyn's family would like to thank Midland Hospice and their vigil care volunteers and caregivers at Presbyterian Manor for all the care they provided her during her time at Presbyterian Manor.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday, April 12, 2024 at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Mid-Town Chapel. Private graveside services will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
