Marikay Miller Peterman passed away on December 20th, 2023 to join her Heavenly Father. She was born on March 9th, 1950 in Vassar, Kansas to Wallace Herman Miller and Patricia Ann King Miller.
She grew up on her family's farm in Vassar, Kansas and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1968, followed by cosmetology school. She and her late husband, Charles Douglas Peterman, then started their own business, "Hair It Is", and worked together for the remainder of their careers.
In 1969 Marikay married her high school sweetheart, Charles Douglas Peterman, in her church at Vassar, Kansas. They celebrated fifty years of marriage in March of 2019. Marikay and Doug started their married life together in Topeka, Kansas and joined Faith Lutheran Church that same year, where they remained actively involved members until their deaths in 2023.
Marikay enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, outdoor activities including landscaping, walking and bike riding, snow skiing, sailing, and joining Doug on numerous big game hunts. Most of all, Marikay loved spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Douglas Peterman. She is survived by her son, Charles Matthew Peterman (Molly), their children, Grace Elisabeth and Charles Jones Peterman; daughter, Megan Ann Peterman Maze and her children, Bauer Andrew and Norah Ann Maze; two sisters, Brenda Lee (Jim) Reynolds and Kristine Ann (Daryl) Roney; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by memorial services at 11:00 am on Monday, January 8th, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka, Kansas. Private inurnment will be held at Vassar Cemetery at a later date.
