Mariella W. Adams, 96, Topeka, passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor. Mariella was born December 13, 1916 in Topeka to Joseph and Sadie White. She graduated from Washburn High School and Washburn College where she was affiliated with Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
She was an avid golfer, spending her early years at White Lakes Golf Club. She was three-time Topeka City Women's Golf Champion and participated in Kansas state golf competitions. Her career was in home economics, primarily with the State of Kansas. She was a long time member of First Southern Baptist Church where she managed the tape ministry for many years.
Mariella married Eugene R. Smith in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1982. She married Dene Adams in 1984. He passed away in 2005. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard White, in 1938. Survivors include her sons, Richard Smith (Tish), Charles Smith (Charlene); grandchildren, Sean, Hilary, Brooke; six great-grandchildren; and three step-daughters.
Private Graveside services will be held at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
