Marie Lousie Templer

Marie Louise Templer, 87, Topeka, passed away on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at Plaza West Regional Health Center.

Marie Louise was born April 17, 1920 to Margaret Choate Daggett Boettcher, and Arthur Boettcher, Major USA, at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C.

She graduated, in Nursing, from St. Luke's Hospital, N.Y. City in 1944. She served in The Army Nurse Corp. in Hawaii during WWII, and later in Japan, during the occupation. She was awarded one Battle Star.

Marie Louise was married to Chester F. Templer in Hawaii on August 11, 1945. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2007.

She was graduated from Kansas State University and worked as a PHN at the Shawnee County/Topeka Health Dept. and at the Kansas Dept. of Health & Environment.

Marie Louise was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, the UPW, Retired City Employees, American Legion, and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include three children, Pamela K. Schuetz (John); Paula Mercer Templer (Tom), both of Topeka; James A. Templer (Therese), Leawood, KS; one sister, Martha Penn, Plant City, FL, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Nellie Boettcher and her daughter in law Joni Templer.

She will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25, 2008 at University United Methodist Church. Private internment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, US Veterans Section.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church; the Topeka Shawnee County Health Dept. or charity of donor's choice.
