Margie M. Billings, 73, Topeka, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Jan. 8, 1930 in Greenwood, Arkansas, the second of nine children of Orville and Nellie Pigg Bartlett, and had lived in Topeka for almost 50 years.
Mrs. Billings worked as a nurses' aide, an activities director, and in housekeeping for several nursing homes in Topeka. She was a skillful cake decorator.
She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Capital Post #1 American Legion auxillary, and La Femmes.
She married T.L. "Bill" Billings on May 10, 1971 in Topeka. He died June 13, 1996.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Linda G. Vargas and Wanda A. Plakio, both of Topeka; son, Mark A. Wang, Eagle, Idaho; 5 Grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; Brother, Charles Bartlett, Ft. Smith, Arkansas; 3 sisters, Nelda McKee, Waco, Texas, Drucilla Satterfield, Jenny Lind, Arkansas, and Mary Carver, Prague, Oklahoma.
Services will be 11:00 am Monday at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Billings will lie in state after 9:00 am Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 pm.
