Margaret G. Woods, 92, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013.
Margaret was born on November 14, 1920, in Morley, CO, daughter of Carl and Perrina Ella (Ferri) Gates. She worked at Santa Fe Railroad for 34 years. Margaret was a member of the Highland Heights Christian Church, the Santa Fe Women's Club, the Santa Fe Retiree's, and NARVRE.
Margaret was united in marriage to James Woods on February 22, 1939, in Raton, NM. He precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Woods, Jr., and a sister, Lorraine Kilpatrick.
Margaret is survived by her son, Glenn Woods and wife, Linda, of Stilwell, KS; two grandchildren, Jenna Woods of Jersey City, NJ, and Steve Woods and wife, Christina of Belfast, Northern Ireland; one great grandson, Coner; and sister, Eva Bernhardt of Douglas, WY.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel, Topeka. Private entombment will be at Mount Hope Mausoleum, Topeka.
Margaret will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 1221 SW 17th St. Topeka, KS 66604-2899.
