Margaret Mckinney

Margaret A. McKinney, 87, of Topeka, passed away Friday, October 6 at Aldersgate Village.

She was born July, 25, 1919 in Topeka, the daughter of Charles and Hermione Pratt Jennings.

She was a 1937 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University. She worked for the Methodist Home, the Menninger Library and for the Kansas Council of Churches. She also owned and operated Margie's Market Ceramics. She was a leadership trainer and troop leader for the Girl Scouts for many years. She was also an avid gardener and ceramist. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Cathedral, sang in the choir and was a Sunday and Bible school teacher.

She married Richard M. McKinney on November 25, 1939 at Grace Episcopal Cathedral. He preceded her in death in 1989.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Carolyn Johnson, Margaret Kathleen "Kay" Dagg, and Patricia Ann McKinney; a sister, Gertrude Cherry, San Anselmo, CA; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, this evening at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm, Monday, October 9 at the Mt. Hope Chapel in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
