Margaret Maxine (Weldy) Main
Margaret Maxine Main, 87, of Topeka KS, died July 17, 2014. She passed peacefully at The House at Midland Care Hospice following a sudden two-week illness.
Maxine was born in Neodesha, KS, October 17, 1926. She graduated from Pierce City High School, Pierce City, MO in 1945. In 1946, Maxine moved to Neodesha where she met and married her husband, Harold E. Main, a union that would last more than 66 years.
Maxine was preceded in death by infant brother Raymond Martin Weldy, sisters Jean Hermasillo and Donna Todd, and her husband, Harold.
Maxine is survived by her children Theresa Blakesley of Kansas City, MO; Betty Robinson of Minneapolis, MN; James Main of Prairie Village, KS; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Betty Boman, Kansas City, MO; Glenna Harris, Grove, OK and James Weldy of Columbus, GA.
An accounting professional, Maxine retired from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts at the age of 62 in 1989, and was a proud member of the American Business Women's Association. Avid history buffs, Maxine and Harold enjoyed their many post-retirement travels exploring America's many historic and natural wonders.
A visitation will be held at the Chapel of Mount Hope Chapel on Thursday, July 24, 2014, 11:30 to 1:00 p.m., which will be followed by a private family graveside service. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family. The family wishes to express their gratitude to granddaughter Jamie Robinson, and also the staff at Midland Care hospice, for their many kindnesses, and their compassionate, loving care.
